Let met start off with my background:

I am 21, I have an AA in criminal justice with a 3.2 GPA. I am currently working towards by 4-year degree in CJ and a minor in natural resources and currently have a 3.33 GPA and plan on graduating 12/2010. Internships

Hello folks,
I have some questions regarding internships. I'm currently looking at securing an internship for next summer, and have been told this is a wise choice by my instructors considering they can be competitive. I was curious if any of the experienced Rangers had any suggestions to what kind of experience would be the most valuable for a future Park Ranger. So far, I have one internship site that seems happy to have me come aboard. It is with the State Bureau of Trails....

I am seriously considering following my long time dream of pursuing a career with the national park service as a law enforcement ranger. This is a path I have hesitated at the edge of for many years, but now I am realizing it is now or never. In fact, perhaps it is already too late. I know there is an age requirement for these positions that you must be hired before your 37th Birthday. I just turned 34, have a graduate degree...

I did research way back when I first decided I wanted to do this now I'm looking into specific fields all answers are really appreciated everyone .

1. Does the NPS still have LE park rangers on horseback , If so what are they called so I can better research them

2. Do any NPS LE park rangers get a K9 ? I heard or read somewhere that specific back...

Is the Seasonal Ranger Enhanced Pay being cut?

I have heard rumors recently that all seasonal protection rangers will no longer receive the enhanced pay and will instead start at basic GS5 pay. Does anyone know details about this? Is it true? and will it continue like this?

I have been to several different web sites and can't quite get a straight answer I'm going to college in the fall and want to become a law enforcement park ranger so I was wondering 1.what is the difference between a law enforcement park ranger and a park ranger, and 2. whats the difference in a law enforcement park ranger position with the BLM (bureau of land management ) as opposed to the same position with the NPS (national park service) is one better then the other or one more...

I tried a search of your forum, but I couldn't get any matches. I just transferred to a park where I work 10.5 hour shifts, but I only get paid for 10 hours. I don't want to make trouble at a new job... but I think this is a bunch of baloney. I worked 10 hours and got paid for 10 hours at my last park. I'm pretty sure police officers nation wide are getting paid for their lunch breaks. What should I do? Do the rest of you work an unpaid half hour? Do you call out of service...
